Lydia Phillips Consulting provides social policy, program evaluation and facilitation services to public and for-purpose organisations. I help my clients build credible evidence, have critical conversations and use compelling insights so they can make informed decisions and deliver highly effective programs.

HOW I WORK

You can expect an approach that is:

Tailored – Every consultancy is different. Taking the time to properly understand your context and needs and to build relationships with interested parties often surfaces critical information. I think deeply about your issues, work flexibly to short or evolving timelines and bring in other expertise as required.

Connecting – I believe complex social problems are best tackled by harnessing knowledge and linkages across policy areas and disciplines. I believe the public, corporate, community and academic sectors continue to offer much to one another and I draw on my cross-sector experience where possible. I enjoy moving between the big picture and the detail and helping to connect individuals and organisations.

Personable – I use a warm, constructive approach to build rapport with people. My experience and formal training in organisational coaching allow me to ask important questions that help you move forward.

MY VALUES

My consulting practice is based on three core values:

Evidence-based practice

I believe that robust and credible evidence is critical to effect positive and meaningful social change. In many settings, excellent work has already been done and it’s our job to find, use and extend it. In more emerging settings, it’s our job to build it.

Relationships for good

I believe constructive, collaborative relationships are important levers for effecting change. I believe social policy and program evaluation should be informed by, and always connected to, the communities they seek to serve. I value long-term relationships with my clients and their people. I am passionate about gender equality and supporting and promoting women.

Social progress

It’s important to me to maintain a solutions focus. I believe that to create positive change in complex systems, we must work collaboratively and proactively, encourage innovation and embrace learning. I am particularly passionate about:

  • preventing, and responding to, violence against women and children;
  • empowering and supporting young people; and
  • improving outcomes for people in contact with the criminal justice system.
